Pescara Bridge
Warren and Mahoney has been engaged by CPB to work with Novare to deliver the design for the Pescara Point Bridge, a key component of Auckland’s Southern Corridor Improvements (SCI) project.
The purpose of the SCI project is to construct additional lanes and associated infrastructure on State Highway 1 (SH1) between the SH1/SH20 (Manukau) and Hingaia Road (Papakura) Interchanges. Warren and Mahoney has worked closely with the engineering and construction teams to refine earlier concept proposals and embed identity elements in the shared path footbridge through engagement with local Iwi and the NZTA’s urban design advisors.
The design solution acknowledges and works with the physical constraints of the site as well as the design requirements of the Urban Design and Landscape Framework. It responds to its unique place – both geographically and culturally – while also offering a ‘pure’ and legible structural solution.
