Les Mills Newmarket

Located on a prominent corner site on Newmarket’s Khyber Pass Road, the new Les Mills fitness club takes pride of place. The original 1970s cement sheet clad warehouse and office building is being transformed with a new fully glazed curtain wall façade, allowing moments of transparency and visual connection between the energetic play within and the busy streetscape below.

The use of vibrant colour and hard surface finishes to the building’s interior are offset by the refined joinery insertions at reception, where a warm palette of bamboo and white oak joinery set a softer tone against the fast paced action being carried out within each of the studio floors above. With the exception of new acoustic panels on the exercise floors, the existing internal concrete and steel structures are purposely left exposed to evoke the building's utilitarian past.
