The ANZ Centre is an Auckland CBD icon with tower floors enjoying panoramic views. ANZ occupies 22 tower floors and a dedicated ground floor pavilion meeting suite which has been integrated with the refurbished tower lobby and public plaza.
The interiors are refined, simple and authentic with natural tones and materials evocative of Auckland’s East and West coasts. The relationship between the interiors and the constantly changing natural light is exploited by the building’s elevated location.
ANZ’s global and local values, site, and context were conceptually ‘woven’ into each other to inform the concept of ‘woven unity’. This infused all aspects of the conceptual and creative process by defining a clear approach and a consistent physical design aesthetic such as articulated junctions, bespoke ceilings, perforated materials and rich natural finish selections. Broad gestures of ANZ’s blue corporate colour have been restrained in favour of subtle integration into the overall aesthetic.
The underpinning aspiration of ‘unity’ was the catalyst for the new internal link stair connecting all ANZ floors. Communal facilities are shared and distributed between floors and stacked vertically around the new internal stair. By encouraging movement between levels, former business unit ‘silos’ have been dissolved and better interaction occurs, improving the frequency, speed and effectiveness of internal communication. This is a paradigm shift for ANZ in New Zealand with staff and facilities previously split over multiple building locations.
The dedicated ground floor meeting suite enjoys an outlook over the refurbished external plaza and provides ANZ with a prestigious, highly flexible guest facility within a neutral business territory.
The refurbishment has resulted in an environment for ANZ which is consistent with its global direction and aspirations by creating stronger staff and client communities.
