Tim Melville is an expert at balancing building functionality and risk management with design excellence. He stands at the forefront of technical architectural expertise in New Zealand.
From an architectural career spanning over 24 years, Tim’s portfolio includes education, commercial and workplace, industrial, retail and hospitality, community and public, heritage and multi-unit residential and mixed use projects.
With a talent for resolving details, Tim ensures that a building’s function meets the promise of the design concept. He has an in-depth knowledge of documentation methodologies and technical systems, coupled with extensive site and contract management experience.
Tim is technically thorough, spatially innovative and client orientated. A strong communicator and a consummate team leader, Tim is adroit at contract administration and negotiation across the construction industry on behalf of his clients. He believes collaboration is at the crux of better design.
Tim also oversees the strategic and human side of the Auckland studio; projecting resources, analysing risks, and creating a cost-effective project workflow.
Collegiality is hugely important to Tim. A stalwart of the New Zealand architectural profession, he consistently contributes to enhancing collective knowledge, acting as an assessor for the New Zealand Registered Architects Board (NZRAB) for over eight years, and as elected Auckland Councillor on the New Zealand Institute of Architects (NZIA) National Council.
Before joining Warren and Mahoney as a Principal in 2012, Tim worked with ORMS Architects in London, Jasmax in Auckland, and was a Director of RTA Studio for twelve years.
