W+M recognise national reconciliation week, Australia

May 31, 2021: Perspectives

We begin by acknowledging the Traditional Owners of the land in Melbourne and Sydney where our studios are located. We would also like to pay our respects to the Elders of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, past, present and emerging.

We understand reconciliation in an Australian context to be about strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-indigenous peoples. National Reconciliation Week, 27 May - 3 June, is an important week to learn about shared histories, cultures and achievements, and to explore how we can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

National Reconciliation Week has prompted us to reflect on what Warren and Mahoney is doing and can do to contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. Through our extensive work with iwi and other indigenous cultures around the Pacific, we understand our responsibility to partner with First Nations communities to truly enrich project outcomes.

We have recently partnered with Arrilla, a majority indigenous-owned and operated business, to provide cultural competency training. We are pleased to confirm that all our Australian-based team will have the opportunity to attend the training to ensure we build our collective knowledge in this area together.

Warren and Mahoney's studios will celebrate and mark NRW this week. We encourage everyone to engage in National Reconciliation Week and learn something new about how you can contribute to reconciliation in Australia. The NRW website can be found here - National Reconciliation Week | Reconciliation Australia.
