Southern Cross Hospital - Endoscopy

The design of this contemporary, functional facility represents a holistic approach to patient care for Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy patients.

The centrally located Southern Cross Hospital set out to provide the wider community with a standalone purpose built endoscopy centre, further expanding their significant healthcare facility. Innovation in the form of Precast Seismic Structural System (PRESS) for the building's structure was used - a first for the South Island. The building's performance was put to the test as a result of the Christchurch earthquakes in which it responded as predicted and with no structural damage.

The five storey building houses two levels of carparking, an endoscopy suite consisting of admissions and pre-op, three operating theatres, associated utilities and a recovery wing. A specialist consulting floor sits above this as does a dedicated plant floor.
