Meredith Connell initially undertook a workplace review strategy with Warren and Mahoney, in conjunction with a re-branding strategy with brand agency Insight Creative. The twin strategies were designed to better reflect Meredith Connell’s significant movement, growth, and place in the legal services market. The workplace review findings highlighted how the business could greatly enhance their use of space to externally express their evolving brand, whilst internally enhancing their culture.

The design project brief was to create an environment that would better support, promote and mirror Meredith Connell’s core values – meritocracy, honesty and transparency, collaboration and collegiality, people centric, and striving for excellence.  Each of these values is evidenced in the design.

Using the findings from the strategy process the building was selected by the client. The workplace is on the top floor of 2 buildings that are joined by internal bridges across a light filled atrium, with extensive views of Auckland from all facades. This horizontal spread lead to the concept of a “Street scape”, a horizontal planning concept that would lead staff and clients through and around the floor plate and further enhance the views and connection across the business. Transparency and long views became a driving design move, by centring activity along the streetscape it allowed the teams to have ownership of their areas whilst creating a sense of vitality and buzz in the central visible areas.
